It's a human tendency to gain sympathy: Sudhanshu Pandey

Image
Sudhanshu Pandey's portrayal of Vanraj Shah in Rajan and Deepa Shahi's "Anupamaa" is definitely one of the most challenging yet a career-defining role in his career, and he has managed to leave the audience awestruck by his performance. Whether it be his one raised eyebrow or the smirk, he owns every scene he is a part of while playing a very complicated character on TV currently.  In the show, Vanraj's determination to make it big made him portray himself as a helpless man in front of Malvika (played by Aneri Vajani). In an episode, he tells her that though he has done a lot of mistakes and has hurt Anupamaa (essayed by Rupali Ganguly), he tried to fix them but Anupamaa didn't want to, and then he was forced to marry Kavya (Madalsa Sharma's character). In a surprising turn of events Malvika grew fond of him because she could relate to him about how it feels to be stuck in a relationship.  Asked if Sudhanshu feels that men can sometimes use suc...

Aparna Dixit: getting the right kind of role on TV is a gamble

Image
With shows such as Pyaar Ki Luka Chuppi and web series such as Exit in her filmography, actress Aparna Dixit says that she is now open to taking up different kinds of roles on the small screen. The actress says that she only signs a role that she is very sure about on TV as it’s a long commitment. “I am actually waiting for the right kind of story, the right character and budget to fall in place because if you have been doing TV for quite some time, you feel that you should get to choose your character, and you get the budget that you expect as well. A lot of things have to fall in place because it's a long commitment. You have to sign a contract and for that, you have to be completely satisfied with the character, storyline, production house, budget. So that's the reason I thought of experimenting with OTT as it's a short commitment and within 20-25 days, one web series gets completed,” she says. However, she is open to playing grey characters as well, somethin...

One new episode will be released every Wednesday.   “Watch short humourous episodes on interactions between mother and daughter in the series that are full of banter. At the same time there is some learning and teaching happening from mother to daughter and vice versa. How ‘gen X’ is ‘gen Z’-eed is another way to define the series. Maninee De is leading the project, while Siddhi Narvekar plays her daughter. The realness and relatability of the characters are the USPs of the series,” she says.   On casting Maninee for the role, Mitu adds, “Being a mother herself she was a natural choice for the role. And, her own relationship with her daughter is quite similar to what she does in the series. Both Maninee and I worked together in Delhi first, at that time we all were ...

The actor, who is currently seen in the series Ziddi Dil Mane Na, says that this is a great time to be part of showbiz. “Competition is definitely there… All characters are defined now on all different platforms. So, everyone is looking for something specific. But I also feel that it is easy for actors today as we have so many options. In fact, I also refer my friends, if some casting happens. The scenario is better today as earlier there were few options. Today, you can do anything,” he says. However, there are some things which need to be left to luck and destiny, adds the actor. “Every actor wants his show to become a hit and he gets some good name and fame. Everyone from the team gives their 100 percent. Every show has its own destiny as there were so many shows which had great actors but didn't run well. There...

He said that I am part of a play that he is doing and asked me to come for the rehearsals from the next day. Till then I did not have any formal training in acting, but I was a part of some theatre groups. My parents were very supportive of me embarking on this journey, but they insisted that I completed my master's degree (M.A. Political Science). The play that Shafi uncle was doing was called 'Doctor Tame Pann'. It was a Gujarati play. That's where my acting journey started. I later did another play with him called 'All The Best'," she says. Vivian Dsena: If you change, the first thing is your friends go away. So, I would continue to be the way I am!

Image
Vivian Dsena prefers doing his work and goes straight back home, one of the reasons why he is considered a recluse. The Sirf Tum actor has no qualms in accepting that he is not a social person and loves being the way he is.   “What people point out as a trait is actually my habit. I love being a recluse, I’m not a social person at all, I don’t feel the need. I'm a decent achiever in the industry but never been a party-goer. I even like home-cooked food over ordering food from outside. Also, you cannot link my hard-earned success with social life. Trust me, people you meet socially do not watch your show,” says the actor, whose popular shows include Kasamh Se, Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon and Shakti — Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki. However, Vivian isn’t an introvert. “I’m definitely not an extrovert but I’m good and happy in my space. I don’t make any conscious decisions, or conscious moves or think I need to be a certain way just to have an image, the thing is I have a very lim...
